It happened one day in November 1991. Grandmaster Pang decided to move the Huaxia center from Shijiazhuang City to Qinhuangdao City. At that time, I was a teacher in the Recovery department in Huaxia for 3 months. All the teachers in the Recovery department were asked to help in Pang’s house to pack his books and furniture, and then load them into the truck. At lunch time, all the teachers went out to find a restaurant for lunch. First, I followed the other teachers to go out of Pang’s house, but an idea suddenly came to me when I was almost out of Grandmaster Pang’s house: ‘Why shouldn’t I have my lunch in his house?’ I knew that Grandmaster Pang and his wife were not at home. Their chef was at home. She was my Qigong classmate and I asked her to have lunch together. She was happy about that.
I totally forgot what kind of lunch I had that day. Like magic an idea came to me. I wanted to find out the secret why Grandmaster Pang was so wonderful. I wanted to know what kind of books he read. When we finished the lunch, I went back to his study room where he had all his books and started looking at them.
There where so many books everywhere in his study room. There was also a ping pong table in the center of the room. As there were so many books, I didn’t know where to look first. I knew I had not much time, so whatever I would have to do it needed to be done quick. As I wanted to copy some sentences from his books I started looking around and forgot about the time. Suddenly I felt a person behind me. It was Grandmaster Pang’s wife. I was so ashamed that I immediately left the room. The first sentence I copied was: ‘People should treat themselves as the best person in the world, never look down on yourself.’ I remember that sentence but not the writer.
Later when I practiced Qigong and listened to Grandmaster Pang’s lectures, I found out that all his teaching mirrors this sentence. Always he explained this sentence but then in different ways. But this was the essence to all the secrets. The sentence was planted deeply in my mind. It’s like a secret of Zhineng Qigong and it led me to teach and do Qigong healing all the time. I decided to set up my own center after Grandmaster Pang’s center was closed in 1999. I met my team in the early of 2003 and decided to go to Hainan island to open our center. We started to teach Qigong in our center and other places in 2004.
In May of 2004, Zou Ping (another teacher from the center) and I were invited to teach in Shenzhen city which is very close to Hongkong. During the teaching, one of the students invited us to have diner in his home. We stayed his room for a rest before diner was prepared. Zou Ping was enjoying the photo album. I took a Qigong magazine from the bookcase. The first sentence which I read was the same sentence which I had copied from Grandmaster Pang’s room! I was totally surprised.
The writer was Bai Yuchan, a famous Daoist Master in Chinese ancient history. Grandmaster Pang respected him very much. I was even more surprised about the fact that Bai came from Hainan Island. He was the first famous culture person from Hainan. I found Bai Yuchan’s temple not far away from our center in October 2009. My conclusion of this wonderful story: ‘Everything is connected in our Yi Yuan Ti.’
